Safety Audit

This half day training course is designed for anyone who has to conduct a Safety Audit in their place of work. A safety audit should be carried out when new processes are introduced, new work practices are introduced, new premises are occupied, or annually to allow for any significant changes in work practices.

The goal of a safety audit is to identify safe and unsafe practices or conditions in the workplace, identify areas for improvement, follow up where action is required and record data that can be used to track safety performance trends.

The topics covered in the course include:

  • Preparing a pre-audit checklist
  • Carrying out a visit
  • What to look for – people, positions, equipment, protective clothing, procedures, housekeeping
  • Documenting your observations
  • Preparing an action list
  • Providing feedback  effectively
  • How to ensure hazards and unsafe practices are addressed
  • Recording your data for later analysis

This half day course is delivered through instructor led presentation as well as open and interactive discussions.  All participants receive a Safety Audit  Training Certificate on completing the course.
